I looked for months before buying. The Toshiba NB305 met my requirements – except it does not have 2 gig ram and windows 7 premium. As it turns out 1 gig is OK, and 7 starter is OK too. Connection to wifi is so much better than with XP. Perfect for what I bought it for – I’m now using it and carrying it around all the time. I have used it mostly on travels overseas: watching video, downloading and uploading and editing photos, listening to music, email, surfing. Battery life is great, have not run out yet. I use a wireless mouse (not keen on touchpads).
Con: The keyboard is OK – I miss letters occasionally when typing but I’m getting better with it. I may upgrade the ram and operating system but it is not necessary for most of my use.
The NB305-N310 is cute, lightweight, and functional. Because it’s black, it goes with just about any outfit. Don’t make the mistake of going with one of the colored versions and thereby limiting yourself to only particular clothes. Can you imagine the sorry girl who buys the white one without thinking and then can use it only between Memorial Day and Labor Day?
The Toshiba engineers made the case shiny enough that you can look at it when you put your lipstick on.
It has traveled extensively with me, including overseas, and never bogged me down.
