This comes “pre-programmed” for those of us whom are “techno idiots”…..Settings for the programable times that YOU want for your particular needs and times can be adjusted~Hey EVEN I CAN DO IT!!!!. Even nicer things about this model as opposed to the earlier models: These come with an Indiglo nightlight: whenever you push any button, the entire display panel lights up. Numbers are bold and large enough to read without glasses (and before a first cup of coffee!!;))
Asked again, I would buy this model in a heartbeat. Amazon got it here at time warp speed, and I’d recommend this to anyone that wants a simple, affordable “update” to their old, round manual “it’s somewhere between freezing and hell” thermostat, this is the PERFECT reasonably priced unit for you. This unit works with wall heaters, too (which was my application in this case).
I bought this based off a good review in Consumer Reports. We weren’t sure if we’d be smart enough to install it, but after viewing some YouTube videos felt confident that we wouldn’t destroy anything by trying. The installation was pretty easy (after we figured out which breaker to turn off), and we had it installed and programmed to our specifications within about thirty minutes. This is an excellent product that I would buy again.
I’ve had this thermostat for about a week, after replacing my old programmable thermostat that went kaput. Within the first day, I noticed that this thermostat kicks on my air conditioning several times an hour for a few minutes at a time. This short “swing time” as it’s called, is both non-efficient and bad for your outside unit. What you need to do as soon as you install this thermostat, is to set the dial on “Run”, press and hold the “Hold” button, press and let go of “Next” then let go of “Hold” and use the up and down arrows to adjust the “Swing Set” to at least “5″. This will cut down on the on and off cycles significantly.
Other than that, it seems to be a really nice programmable thermostat. Very easy to program, and the humidity feature is really nice.
