In fact, the EVO and EVO JR. actually have a little bit of the dagger in them. Another aesthetic design touch is the series of seven slanting oval openings in the anodized aluminum handle. They serve to make these knives both organic and aggressive. Functionally, the oval openings further reduce the overall weight of these knives to near nothingness. The blades are constructed of 440 stainless steel that is coated with titanium nitride for added corrosion resistance. There’s a thumb stud for easy one-handed opening. And, there’s an integral finger guard for an extra measure of safety. Bottom line? You’d do well to own such a highly evolved knife.

Well-priced combo pack

At its price point it (the Evo) is light weight, durable, well-made, and has a reasonably decent blade. Great price in the combo pack with the smaller Evo Jr. Easy opening with a single lock (would be even better with a CRKT double lock system) mechanism. Reasonably sharp from the factory with the combo edge cuts rope, tarp, etc. with ease. I purchased the Evo to compare to the CRKT knives of the same type that I already own (M16 EDC and M21 SFG). In around the same price range it is a good alternative, though the blade material is slightly different between the two companies. Finally, given how affordable these are, if one does ‘break’ a new one won’t break the bank.

The Evo Jr. makes for a good, cheap, pock-sized knife for day-to-day use. It is a tad bit smaller than the CRKT M16EDC, but that makes it more pocket friendly, yet not too small to be hard to use. I do, however, prefer the tanto tip and serrations of the CRKT M16EDC to the standard blade on the Evo Jr.

I love Gerber Knives

I recently bought a couple of pocket knives, and one of them was the Evo Jr. Nice & sharp out of the package, made even better with a quick going-over with a polishing stone.
The “thumb” studs, though, do not seem well designed; Like I said, I have many other pocket knives and all of the others I have that have thumb studs all open very nicely with them, but not this one. HOWEVER, the knife has a stud on the back of the knife, making it much easier than almost any other knife I have to open.

Gerber has great quality knives. Highly reccommended.
