I have been looking for something to replace the unit the kids have been using. We got tired of the fights over which DVD to play so we went looking for separate units that wouldn’t empty the wallet. The main features we wanted were: Tablet style(or flip into one), SD or USB card support, DIVX support and IR heaphones. Well, this unit delivered all of it except the IR headphones.

When we received the unit I immediately put in an SD card from my phone. The music on it began playing instantly. Good start. Next loaded up some XVID movies I had ripped and they played perfectly. Finally plugged in my Archos 605 (80gb) player and it actually read the directory but took about 2 minutes. I could select a movie to play but it locked up. I had heard there are problems with large USB hard drives so it may be true. Minor problem since I wouldn’t give my kids the 605 anyway.

The headrest bra works great and the speakers are way better than expected. It does feel cheap like others have noted but it seems to work great. My son will give it the true endurance test.

So we ordered another and now have 2 units with separate DVD players, SD cards loaded with movies and music for each child and headphones. That’s it. All for about $300 which is a bargain for this much value. If I get 2 years out of each unit I’ll be happy and would probably go buy another one.

This is my third portable DVD player in less than a year, and even though it is the cheapest of the three, it is by far the best! This thing plays anything I throw at it! I also use it as a picture viewer via the sd slot. The usb is a nice feature as well. The picture and sound are quite acceptable for something in this price range and beyond. It may not be as ruggedly built as my Philips, but I am confident it will hold up as long as I use a little comon sense. For the price and the features, I really don’t care if it won’t tolerate mishandling. I love this thing and will probably buy another one if it does break. They say you get what you pay for, but with this player, you get a lot more than what you pay for!

I bought this DVD player 6 months ago, and I have used it in every possible way: on a plane trip with the battery and headphones (the dual headphone output is genius), in the car with the supplied car charger, home, plugged to the wall outlet. (the first time I used it, I just took two seconds to slip it into my purse while rushing to the ER with my two year old. She went through the 5 hour waiting time without complaining thanks to 2 Care Bears movies and this little wonder). This baby reads perfectly a dvd from any region (I am french and my daughter watches both american and french movies), but also from a 2gb sd card, or a 2gb thumb drive (I have bought one for less than $10 that I dedicate entirely to this, “loading” it with 2 to 3 new movies each time). The quality from these is just as awesome, the sound is good enough to hear in the car above motor and air conditioning noises.
I even use it plugged on my bedroom TV when I don’t travel, so that now I can watch DivX in a very good picture quality from any angle in the room, instead of having to carry my laptop and plug it, or watching directly on the laptop screen which i never found pleasant.
This little DVD player is just fantastic, the remote works perfectly and is very well thought, you can do anything from it)and it reads anything! I just love it, it does just about anything you might want it to, the possibilities are endless!
