I had originally purchased a cheap electric pencil sharpener and was frustrated with its lack of performance. This is the quality pencil sharpener I’ve been looking for. I’ve purchased and returned two others but I’m definitely keeping this one. The other sharpeners were noisy, had weak motors, cut slowly and were just plain awkward to use, but the Panasonic KP-380 is a fantastic product.

Great Product at a fraction of the cost advertised in Astronomy magazines. This 5 mw. pointer sends pencil sized beam useful in astronomy to point out particular stars to budding astronomy buddies. I used the pointer for the first two times to show two novice astronomers the guide star to locate Comet 17P/ Holmes. After quickly pointing at the star in Persius with the laser pointer, both were able to locate the star immediately and have Comet Holmes in their field of view of their binoculars.

I got this laser for Christmas and I wasn’t disappointed despite the great price. The pointer is very sturdy feeling and powerful. As the review states the pointer does require 2-3 minutes of warm-up time to reach maximum intensity, depending on the temperature. Also the time it takes to reach maximum brightness varies depending on battery life, my best results were with name brand batteries, not the supplied ones. If you want to see the beam at night this works best in very dark places without street lights, also you will notice that the beam becomes very visible after your eyes dark adjust which can take several minutes. I was able to light up destination signs on the highway as far as I could see. If I had to give negatives it would be that the button feels a little wobbly(really not bad), and needs to be depressed firmly. This laser can be very fun but should also be used with caution to avoid eye injury. Buy two and give one to a friend or brother this is a great product at a great price.

The notebook is 100 sheets and it is wide ruled. I find thease handy for everything from a personal notebook to use for school or work. The covers are realatively sturdy, unlike spiral notebooks. The drawback is that you can’t rip out pages, because The notebook is bound together by a sturdy thread.

All in all this notebook comes in handy for any purpose or any person.

Why would anyone want to review such a prosaic and commom thing as a composition book that must be used in every classroom in America (you ask)?

Well, as a writer and editor, I must write out most of my scripts in longhand. Call me old school, but that is how a book gets made – do the drafts in notebooks such as these sturdy and dependable composition books by Mead, and then transpose to the computer via a program like MS Word.

I must fill up 6-8 of these every year – for daily journaling; for research notes for an upcoming book; for the actual draft of say, a work of fiction; and for any miscellaneous task that comes along. I wait for Back-to-School sales in August so that the unit cost is sometimes as low as 3 for a buck. Hey, can’t beat that value. Even at full retail, these little babies are still a bargain.

I just picked this label printer up (at Office Depot, since it was on special at nearly half the current amazon price) and am very pleased with the purchase.

The device is very light weight, using just 4 AAA batteries (not included).

I felt that the standard QWERTY keyboard was a plus over the ABC keyboards that the Dymo label printers use (this is personal preference — some people may be more comfortable with the latter).

The device has several built in preset label sizes, to accomodate the spines of VHS/DVD, MiniDV, File tabs and Dividers (though this does ‘waste’ the label tape, causing the user to have to restock sooner).

The device comes with a single spool of Black on White — the instructions indicate 26.2″, though the product description here on Amazon states this means 26′ of tape.

There is just 1 font, however labels can be printer either horizontally (the default for most people) or vertically. IN addition, you can ‘stretch’ it to 2x width or 1/2x width. A handful of symbols help you visually identify information (such as a small phone to indicate a phone number, or envelope to indicate email address).

Overall, the value is great, especially if you can get it for a low price!

I’ve been going through a phase lately where I’m trying to organize the clutter around my house… I’m just tired of the mess. One of the main reasons why I wanted a label maker was because of the tangle of cords associated with my home theater system. With power cords for two game consoles, cable box, TV, DVD player, a Roku SoundBridge and a wireless bridge all plugged into the same power strip it was nearly impossible to figure out what I was unplugging at any given time. Same went for the A/V cables connecting everything. I made double-copy labels and folded one in half around every cable to make an easy-to-read tag, so now I know what every one is for without having to trace a wire from one end to the other through the rat’s nest of wires behind the entertainment center.

I also used it to label all the boxes and Rubbermaid bins full of stuff in the attic storage space, and labeled some more plastic storage bins in a few closets.

The PT-80 features a full QWERTY-style keyboard that is easy to use, which is nicer than some other models that arrange the buttons in alphabetical order… I can two-thumb-type out any label in a matter of seconds. I’ve read some complaints about wasted tape, but I’ve organized three rooms with dozens of labels (many of them double-ended cable tags as I described for my entertainment center) and still haven’t used up the first 26′ cartridge. The little slot in the back of the device that helps peel the label end is nice, but doesn’t work on the first time, every time… usually I have to put the end in and strip it back a few times before I can peel the label from the backing. I don’t know if that experience is any different with other styles of tape, as I’ve only used the standard black-on-white tape.

An added bonus was that this device and the tape cartridges are significantly cheaper from Amazon than at the local office supply chain stores, especially with free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime.

It looks beautiful; a conversation stopper everytime I pull it out. It’s silky solid with a little weight that makes the lead glue to the surface of the paper. The graphite-lead is held tight in place, no wiggling or slippage. This beauty’s cap clicks firmly into its open and close positions (you’ll know what I mean when you get yours). I love looking at it and feeling it craddle in my hand. The instrument is a little shorter than a regular lead/mechical pencil; the shortness compliments the weight factor making the graphite spread evenly across the surface. Beautiful design, top quality material, with a refillable eraser–seasoned lead-pencil users know the value of this little addition. It’s inexpensive, high quality material, precisionly crafted, great design, wonderful to hold–what do you think all this mean? It’s not gonna last, Pentel is gonna realize this and jack up the price. I have three–I wish each of my fingers have the capability to write so I could buy one for each digit. Buy, buy, buy.

I work in engineering and live by these things. There was another model I used and that I loved – but they’re not made anymore. I searched long and hard to find a replacement that works reliably and without jamming, and this model is it. My lastest order was for three of them – so I can have spares if I lose my primary one.

I purchased the Pentel 5 version of this mechanical pencil nearly seven years ago and I’ve enjoyed them ever since. Approximately four inches in length without the cap, it’s on the small side for a pencil but the metal barrel and excellent paint finish make it really stand out.

Well weighted and with a sharp tip, the pencil allows for smooth and comfortable writing. They are a bit expensive for a simple pencil, but I’d highly recommend them to anyone seeking a high quality mechanical pencil.

As an artist, I find the best way to sketch is loosely and a lot of free motion. I find the best pencils for this are Prismacolor Col-Erase pencils, as they allow for this with the best results. The 24 colors to chose from help add depth to sketches, be it a warmth or coolness, a shadow or neutral base. And the ability to erase helps clean up the finished sketch so it’s easy to just let your movements flow with no worry of mistakes.

These have been my favorite colored pencils for years. I’m an art major, and while Prismacolors are great they break apart easily and aren’t easily erasable. They can also be messy, and the price is a little restrictive.

These don’t blend quite as much but they do blend quite well, and the ability to erase better than other brands is very, very useful. They aren’t prone to breakage, and the colors are smooth. The downside is that it’s hard to get them to be as vibrant as other pencils without applying a lot of pressure.

I recommend these for anyone, beginners and advanced artists alike.
