This generation of iMac uses the latest Intel Sandy Bridge architecture, and even the entry iMac is quite a powerful system. I stepped up to this model to get better graphics support. I was initially concerned that the 1TB hard drive might be one subject to the current Apple recall, but it’s not (even if it were, quick trip to Apple store and they would have replaced it). Everything works well. I added an external hard drive on a BackPack that sits on the iMac stand behind for backup/Time Machine/data use.

I was somewhat concerned about the all glass screen without non-glare properties. Looked at it in the store, but what sold me was the clarity of the display on my phone. Things are clear and crisp, and as I’m using the system, have no complaints. I migrated from a PowerPC system, and there are some good guides on the Apple site to make that painless. I did not use Migration Assistant as there have been issues in the past coming from a PowerPC.

Amazon delivery was quick and well packaged (basically the Apple box in a form fitting shipping box). Should I decide to upgrade to OS X 10.7 Lion, I have a machine that should run it and whatever comes along in the next few years.
